2nd Annual Drama Queens Bridal Show

I'll start by telling you that our first "big" show was a huge success! With well over 200 people and 97 of them were brides! I was pretty amazed at how smooth things went. Everyone of our magnificent vendors showed up with great props for their vendor table and with a great attitude! I thank each and every one of them! They will definitely be remembered and appreciated for trusting in me and my sister to produce a great show. It was our first!

So now we are on to our 2nd annual show, same place, different month, and some familiar faces but some new ones too! I am really excited about our photographers that we have on board! They each seem to have a quality that will no doubt fit nicely in with our production. The brides will for sure find what they need in the photography area of this show! Arianne Lewis of Ari Photography "couture photography for the edgy" is a show sponsor and she will wow you with her unique eye for the not so typical, but off the hook photo shoot! Be sure to ask her about her TTD (trash the dress) sessions! She is located in Riverbank. We also welcome, Anthony and Vanessa Luna of Moondog Photography a husband and wife photography team "whose who love for each other bloomed into a love for inspiring photography." They have a Wedding & Boudoir photography studio located in Modesto. Last, but certainly not least we bring to you Joelle Louise Pulido of JLPulido Photography, as an art major in college, Joelle, "likes her work to be unique, and is tailored to specific individuals."

Of course no show or wedding would be complete with out fabulous sounds, groovey tunes and an emcee that is compared to none, so with that we applaud our in house professional DJ...Sounds in Motion DJ's! DJ George will keep you dancing and entertained all night long or my name isn't Stacy! We also welcome back TNT DJ Video! These 2 brothers have been in the business of making brides happy for over 20 years! Entertainment is so important to any event! Nobody wants to re live the days of teenage dances where the girls are on one side of the room and the boys are on the other. Both of these companies are experts in audio/visual and entertainment.

Paul Mitchell Design Team of Modesto is back to pamper our models that are on the cat walk this year! Hair and make up to die for! Just check out the pics from our last show! The models were beautiful!

So that is it for now, I will be keeping you all updated on the comings and goings of the Drama Queens. I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving, and remember you can be thankful all year long! I am!

Sunday, May 24, 2009

May 24, 2009 my house is quiet, husband sleeping, son #1 sleeping too and son # 2 across the street either asleep or playing the Wii. My 96 year old neighbors newspaper waits for me to pick it up and put it on the chair on her doorstep. I can always tell when there is a new newspaper delivery person by the paper being at the end of her driveway...hmmm? I am 42. I sit here at this computer wondering how to start my first blog to the world?? Instead of going back in history, I will start right where I am today. I am excited, nervous and somewhat anxious. I have been working on an event for next Sunday. I can't believe that I actually took action. This is the first time for me to really be doing something that I love and look forward to doing! You must think "jeez lady, you are 42 and you're just now finding something you love?" Yes indeed. I have "felt" stuck for my entire life. Feeling guilty for staying home with the kids for 17 years, feeling like I have given up on myself. (I know that me being home with my kids have made them who they are today, they are wonderful, great, compassionate, caring, loving and responsible kids!) still I have always felt like a lump. I have worked many side jobs before my married life, I had worked as a waitress, a commissioned jewelry sales, hotel, retail etc. Some of the same, here and there during my marriage. The last being Mary Kay. Now, don't think of your old school Mary Kay lady, actually go right ahead and think that. I have met some of the most caring, helpful, giving, successful women with my involvement with Mary Kay! I wish I could have met Mary Kay in person, what a wonderful, inspiring woman she was! As a consultant I learned many ways to market my business, one of those ways was the avenue of bridal shows! I loved being at the shows, didn't think much about how much I loved it at the time, but I loved the concept. A room of small & big business professionals all there for the same reason, to promote their services with brides to be coming to visit you, (hopefully). Jump to March 2009, I had the opportunity to help at a local bridal show at the registration table, only I did much more than that, everything that I had learned at my previous jobs, all came together that day! I was so inspired! I got chills, when I realized that omg! I can do this! I want to do this! I want to start my own business and produce shows, all kinds of shows! Not just bridal, but, kid events, vendor blenders, whatever I can think of events! I came home and have not gotten off the computer since! I read everything I can to learn about this type of industry. I love it! I was also once bitten by the fundraising bug. In 2007, several Mary Kay consultants around California gave up their profit and matched a $55 value of sunscreen baskets to send over seas to our troops. I raised the most $$ in my area, I had such a great time doing that! (consultants sent over 1 million dollars of sunscreen thru "Operation Sunscreen"!) I have always given what I have if someone came up to me and asked for change. I read somewhere once, that you are not supposed to ask why someone needs help, but to just give what you can, if you can and don't put conditions on the help that you are offering. If someone asks for help I believe he is asking for a reason, and who am I to say that his/her reason isn't good enough?
So, I thought I can do what I love while I am learning to do what I love, (searched high and low for a mentor, no luck) I thought I can give back to my community from each event that I create! My first event, (back to being anxious) is next week, Sunday, May 31 from 11-2. This my first creation with the help of my sister is the first of it's kind! The show is sponsored by Women's Empowerment Group http://womensempowermenttoday.com and the show will benefit Second Baptist Church Food Bank Program!!!! I will be blogging again soon! This was fun, I hope it makes sense, it did in my head while I wrote it, but who knows! If you want to know how you can help benefit our food bank please contact me!~ Stacy~ events@dqevents.com
Ciao` for now.
